The recordings
Still Life collects performances from the Stones’ 1981 North American tour. “Under My Thumb” and “Let’s Spend the Night Together” sit alongside “Twenty Flight Rock” and “Going to a Go-Go”.
The programme includes the opening tape of Duke Ellington’s “Take the ‘A’ Train” and closes with Jimi Hendrix’s “Star Spangled Banner”. Those two recordings frame the Stones’ performances; they are not songs played by the band.
